Microinteractions
Microinteractions are the single-task moments that exist all around us, from the pull-to-refresh animation on a social feed to the "ping" sound when a message is sent. While they may seem minor, these moments serve four vital functions: they provide feedback, they communicate status, they help the user see the result of an action, and they add a sense of personality to the software.
When designed well, microinteractions feel almost invisible because they align so perfectly with user expectations. However, their absence is often noticed immediately as the interface feels "dead" or unresponsive. By paying attention to these small details, design teams can turn a functional utility into a delightful product that users enjoy returning to daily.
